How Contractors Lose Customers Online

Contracting is a trust-heavy purchase. Here's how the average contractor website destroys trust before the customer ever picks up the phone.

How Contractors Lose Customers Online

A homeowner hiring a contractor is spending thousands of euros with a stranger. Trust is the entire product. Most contractor websites destroy trust before the first phone call.

The trust-killers

1. Stock photos of other people's work

Every experienced homeowner recognizes stock. It signals: this business does not have real work to show. Real photos, taken on a phone, always beat a professional stock library.

2. No named clients or addresses

"Recent project in Utrecht Oost" is worth ten anonymous "happy customers." Naming the neighborhood proves you actually worked there.

3. Vague pricing language

"Competitive pricing" says nothing. "Kitchen renovations from €12,000" filters the wrong customers and reassures the right ones.

4. No license, insurance, or guarantee info

Homeowners are trained to look for these. Missing them is a red flag; showing them is a competitive advantage.

5. The website looks like it was built in 2011

Fair or not, the site is a proxy for the workmanship. A dated site suggests dated methods.

The fix

Photograph your last five jobs on a phone. Get three named testimonials. Publish a starting price range for each service. Ship it this month. That alone will out-perform 90% of contractor websites in your area.
